Profspect — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 8, 2026 Provider: Profspect, a service operated by John Carter Johnson, a sole proprietor ("Profspect," "we," "us"). Contact: iamjohncarter@icloud.com

This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and how and when we delete it. It is intended to satisfy California's online privacy requirements for a commercial service that collects personal information from California residents.

1. Information we collect

To produce your report we collect the information you provide at intake: your current school, intended major, student type, target transfer school, academic goals, time horizon, and the courses and instructors you want analyzed. If you choose to upload a transcript, we collect the course information it contains. We also collect the email address you give us for delivery. Payment is handled by our third-party payment processor; we do not receive or store full payment-card numbers.

2. How we use it

We use your inputs solely to research public information about the courses and instructors you specify and to generate and deliver your report. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Third-party processing

To generate your report, your inputs (including transcript-derived course data) are sent to third-party artificial-intelligence and search services that we use as processing tools — currently Anthropic, PBC (the Claude API). These providers process the data to perform research and synthesis on our behalf, subject to their own terms and privacy practices. We transmit only the minimum information needed to produce the report.

4. Data retention and deletion

We practice data minimization. After your report is delivered, we delete your uploaded transcript and your personal intake details within 7 days. We retain only a minimal order record (order ID, date, amount, and delivery email) for accounting and support. Our internal research cache stores only public course-and-instructor information keyed by school, course, and term — never your personal information or transcript.

5. Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you by emailing iamjohncarter@icloud.com. We do not sell personal information. California residents may have additional rights under California law, which we will honor to the extent they apply to us.

6. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including limiting access and minimizing how long we keep it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The service is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes take effect when posted with a new effective date.
